Well... It's atmospheric and does manage to ramp up the tension.
I do hope that in future fics some explanation will be provided as to why:
-Methos is Jack's father (this is not necessarily that problematic as he could have adopted), and the bigger problem of
-Jack knows his adoptive dad is the notoriously secretive Methos, who generally just doesn't tell on his past, rarely even to his best friends...
There are a lot of fics out there where Methos is the (adoptive) parent or teacher of a character from another fandom, and these explanations tend to be a bit lacking in... originality and thoroughness, shall we say. So at this point, you're participating in perpetuating a cliche.
It can still work, and I sincerely hope it does because you certainly have the qualities to pull something like this off, but I'm slightly worried.
