Follow that bandwagon!

Of all the possible Getting-To-Know-You memes currently out and about, this is the only one that looked interesting enough for me to do. Gakked from [livejournal.com profile] mydeira.

Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does: Pet Shop Boys -- Go West (Shut. Up. ::glares::)

Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does: The Bathroom Trivia Book by Jack Kreismer (For instance, did you know the only domestic animal not mentioned in the Bible is the cat? There's gotta be a reason for that! *eg*)

Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does: Candleshoe (Starring Jodi Foster, at age 13.)

Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has: Moonbeam, Ontario, Canada. (No, I'm not joking. Approx 20 minutes down the road from where I was born is a small town called "Moonbeam". They have a spaceship kids can climb around in and everything. No, I did NOT know about this before choosing my pseudonym. I moved to New Brunswick before I was one year old, and never even knew how serendipitous my choice in nicknames was until just a few years ago. It's a coincidence; a freaky, weird, but very cool coincidence.)

My sister had that album when I was a kid. Does that count? ;)

Sorry...

I've been to Moonbeam! I can't remember where we were going, or why, but I know I've been there, and I distinctly remember that spaceship :-D

Good Lord, that's strange! I have to admit, I am surprised. Really surprised, even though I know you live in Ontario. Moonbeam is way up in the northern part of the province, completely out of the way of any of the usual tourist routes. I can't imagine how or why anoyone would just pass through -- unless you were lost. Did you let Asp navigate? ;P

I got curious and Googled Moonbeam. Check this out, they have their own website! :D

(Be warned that most of it is in French, as most of northern Ontario are francophone.)

And some lovely shots of the spaceship:

There's even an award-winning independant short-film set in Moonbeam:

Go figure, eh? ;)

Now I remember! We were driving to Regina, Saskatchewan from Toronto - and since it was winter, we took the long way around (straighter roads, less hills/mountains) that took us through Iroquois Falls, Facque (spl?) and so on. And yes, Asp was driving :-P But he was actually going the right way - for once... ;-)

There's a film...?? *scratches head*

Oh yes, because driving through the narrowly-carved winding roads of the Canadian Shield is always a good idea in winter. ::snerk:: I hope at least you didn't do it at night! I really, really, really don't recommend attempting that.

But hey, at least it's a pretty drive with lots of interesting sights! :D

It was a gorgeous drive for mid December. :-) Most of the days were sunny and semi warm for that time of year.

And yes - we did drive at night. We went through Moonbeam at some point in the afternoon, and didn't stop until we hit Winnipeg. (some 21 hours of driving a POS UHaul truck)

Needless to say, that drive is not one of my more fond memories ;-)

I know the feeling. ;P For my grandmother's funeral, we had to treck from Alberta to Stratford, Ontario as quickly as possible. It took us just over two days, driving day and night -- mostly. We did thankfully decide to stop sometime around 2am while crossing the Manitoba/Ontario border. Wound up staying in this little hunting cabin nestled between the rocks. Good thing, too... because by that point we were lucky if we were making those turns at 30 kph. There's nothing like driving through narrow roads and blind turns in the middle of a snow storm at night. :P
